AirAsia Domestic Service to be Relocated from LTSAAS to KLIA 2 in April 7th

AirAsia will be relocating its domestic service from LTSAAS (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, also known as Subang Airport) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA T2) starting on 7th April 2025.

The officials of AirAsia made a statement on Thursday stating that it is to optimise the operation following the increased demand for the trip and improve the overall flight experience.

“Though Subang Airport is convenient, especially for the local residents, the redevelopment for future support will take time.”

“In the meantime, AirAsia will consolidate its operations at KLIA T2 to optimise operational efficiency and enhance the overall guest experience,” said the officials.

AirAsia also said that with passenger numbers between Kuala Lumpur and key destinations such as Kota Kinabalu and Kuching increasing significantly by over 16 per cent year-on-year, the consolidation of domestic operations at KLIA T2 will enable the airline to better accommodate the increased traffic.

AirAsia Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra said the infrastructure at KLIA T2 is better suited to meet the needs of large-scale connecting flights, especially during peak travel times.

“It also provides the capacity needed for continued growth as we add more flights to meet high demand to Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.

To ensure a smooth transition, he said, the airline would continue to operate from Subang Airport throughout the Hari Raya week to meet existing demand.

This will allow the majority of guests travelling during the festive season to enjoy the facilities before the full transition to KLIA T2.

“The positive consultation session with the Gateway Development Alliance (GDA) consortium also ensures that this transition is in line with better infrastructure development and long-term connectivity goals,” he said.

AirAsia will commence operations at Subang Airport on August 30, 2024, introducing two routes, namely Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
