The new 2.4 patch update for Honkai Star Rail has arrived and alongside the update comes new banners on the first half featuring a totally new limited 5-star character, Yunli, and the return of Huohuo, as the update’s limited 5-star character rerun.
Now hold your brakes before you decide to spend your Jades on these banners because there are a few things you need to take into consideration especially if you are a free-to-play player or a small spender (Do ignore this if you are a whale).
5-Stars Characters
Yunli
She is a character that treads along the path of Destruction and wields Physical as her element. Her kit centres around her getting hit to unleash a powerful counter against the enemies. Her skill gives her a bit of healing to help her self-sustain. Her ultimate will draw the enemies’ attacks towards her and she will enter a parry state where she will unleash a powerful counter once she is hit. Yes, Yunli is Fromsoft’s Sekiro in a turn-based game. You need to time her ultimate properly to get the most out of her ult or she will unleash a weaker version of the attack.
Overall, she is a solid DPS to have but she is not as game-changing as Firefly, Acheron or even Boothill as these characters have weakness implant/ ignore weakness type mechanics making them a universal unit that can be used in any type of endgame content.
Huohuo
This patch also brings back Huohuo, a 5-star support that provides heals, minor energy regeneration and attack buffs to the team. She also removes the debuffs on your characters with her heels. She is a valuable character to have especially if you are new to the game and need a solid healer/ buffs support as she is very flexible to fit in any team composition.
4-Stars Characters
Lynx
The 4 stars’ lineups in the banner are just decent overall. Lynx is a good unit to have as she not only provides heals and cleans the whole team’s debuffs with her ultimate, but her skill also increases the target’s chance of being attacked by the enemies. So, if you have units like Yunli, Clara, or even Blade, she would be nice to pair alongside these types of characters.
Yukong
Yukong can be a great buffer for your team as she can give your team an attack stat increase, extra crit rate and crit damage, she can be really hard to play with as you need to tune her speed (which depends on artifacts RNG) for her to be optimally played in your team and she can be very skill points hungry for a support without her E6. It’s not ideal for support as you want to channel most of your skill points to your DPS or sustains.
Hanya
Hanya is a decent support that helps your team with skill points management. She puts a ‘Burden’ on an enemy and once a character in your team attacks the enemy your team will gain a skill point. On top of that, she also gives extra speed and attack buffs to a chosen character in your team.
Conclusion
Overall the 2.4 patch’s first half banners are decent and whether you decide to pull for the units or not it won’t have that significant impact on your account except for Huohuo of course. Feel free to pull if you like the characters and if you decide to skip just know that you are not missing a lot from these banners.
