What to expect from Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc

Demon Slayer anime fans are now hyped to the max. How can they not? The Commander of the Demon Slayer Corp, Ubayashiki Kagaya just went kamikaze to weaken the Demon King, Kibutsuji Muzan ahead of the final battle.

We are left with just two more arcs namely; Infinity Castle Arc and The Sunrise Countdown Arc. Funny thing though, there are two arcs (or about 65 manga chapters) left for us. However, chronologically, this all will happen within just hours.

The Demon King is immuned to beheading, so no Demon Slayer Corp member can beat him using only Nichirin Blade. Despite that, he did take severe hit courtesy of a series of intense strikes by Kagaya’s suicide bomb, Tamayo’s surprise poison attack and Himejima Gyomei’s flail attack.

Muzan tries to escape and brings along the whole Demon Slayer Corp with him into the Infinity Castle with the help of the new Upper Moon Four, Nakime a.k.a Biwa Demon. Just before he can escape, Kamado Tanjiro promises in fury to challenge and defeat the Demon King himself. He dares Tanjiro to come and try.

So what happens next in Demon Slayer Anime?

Demon Slayers Battle The Upper Moons

Before battling the Demon King, the Demon Slayers Corp members and the Hashiras need to go through the Upper Moons and all those demons crawling in the entire Infinity Castle. This is a war, consisting of various key battles, mostly involving the Tanjiro and Co, Hashiras and the Upper Moon.

I’m not gonna spoil who is fighting who, but these are the main generals of the Demon Army that the Slayers need to beat before they can reach Muzan.

1. Upper Moon 1, Kokushibo
2. Upper Moon 2, Doma
3. Upper Moon 3, Akaza
4. Upper Moon 4, Nakime (new Upper Moon)
5. Upper Moon 6, Kaigaku (new Upper Moon

You guys already know about Nakime, the Biwa Lady Demon who got promoted to the rank of Upper Moon 4 and Kaigaku actually made his debut via flashback of a certain one-slash-man back in season 1. I’m not gonna tell here, it’s best to wait for it. Also, there’s no telling if there will be a new Upper Moon 5, replacing Gyokko but it would be nice if Aniplex can give more that what the Manga offered. 

How Many Episodes Can We Expect ?

Anyway, about 67 manga chapters are left to be covered and over 40 chapters covering the Infinity Castle Arc. I’d say we need at least 20 anime episodes adaptation from this Arc. A fan account claimed that the Infinity Castle Arc will be adapted into a trilogy of films. While this is not a bad idea, I am not sure whether this is better than having a three-part season like how Attack On Titan did. 

Of course MAPPA did a very good job in terms of animating the Final Season of AoT, I sure hate saying “I’m watching the second movie of part 3 of AoT Final Season”. Sounds like the name of a university student’s PDF file after going through various proofreading and editing sessions.

Muzan will have plenty of time to rest before any Demon Slayer Corp member can reach him and judging from the production plan, it’s safe to assume that it will be awhile before the audience sees him too. But don’t worry, it’s all for a good reason, trust me. While we wait, do enjoy the journey, which will end soon.
